My autistic daughter (11) was assigned to Mr Thomas’ class. New school, new teacher, new routine. If you know, you know.. Middle school. I didn’t know…… 6th grade was ROUGH. It is for the neurotypical. It was harder for us. Mr Thomas was in constant contact, met her where she was. Adjusted to meet her needs. Earned her trust, which is never a given. WE made it. Mr Thomas remains in our lifeboat to help us. In all the chaos of the journey of those who don’t fit into the public school box, sometimes, you find a Jason Thomas. And I’m eternally grateful… :)
